How You Can Help

Volunteers

Overview

“As one person I cannot change the world, but I can change the world of one person”

~Unknown

We assist with a hand-up, not a hand-out. There are no entitlements. We believe God expects each person to be self-sufficient, to work and support their family. God also expects His people to help one another in love, particularly during hard times or when unexpected circumstances occur. That loving support we want to give is to provide hope for our clients who want to be self- sufficient. God helps those that help themselves.

We can’t do it without you, and we are asking you to get involved. There are many ways for you to partner with us in our mission to end poverty throughout Columbia and Montour counties.

If you are interested in helping, please click here for Individual Form and click here for Group Form to complete and mail or drop off the volunteer form and you will be contacted by one of our staff.

Who May Volunteer

All ages are welcome to participate in our ministry. We work with any individual, organization, or religious denomination. Please note that some opportunities may have restrictions for safety reasons. The size of volunteer groups varies depending on the available tasks and participants. Usually group sizes range from 5 to 15. Due to space constraints, we recommend no more than 30 people here at one time unless special arrangements have been made.

When to Volunteer

AGAPE is always in need of community volunteers throughout the year. Most individuals volunteer for 2 to 3 hours at a time, but many volunteer for an entire day or regularly throughout the year. Our normal operating hours are Monday, Tuesday and Friday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Wednesdays 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Thursday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and the first Saturday of the month 9:00am-1:00pm. We do occasionally have volunteer opportunities that extend beyond our normal working hours.

Current Volunteer and Intern Opportunities

“In all things, I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

~Acts 20:35

Our staff and volunteers are our most important resource and our means of building client relationships to meet needs with practical solutions which spiritually transform individuals and our communities.
